Tips To Help You Get Your RV Towed After A Break Down

Owning an RV gives you the freedom to take a road trip anywhere that you want, which is very appealing to many people. While a well-maintained RV can travel long distances without any issues most of the time, that doesn't mean that they can't break down. A break down in any type of vehicle can be stressful, but the situation can be especially frustrating when you're dealing with an RV. In many cases, if an RV breaks down it will need to be towed to the nearest repair shop for service. Use the following tips to help you get your RV towed after a break down:

Park Somewhere Safe

At the first sign of problems with your RV, it is important to find somewhere safe to park. Ideally, you should try to make it to a parking lot or a large truck stop. Unfortunately, break downs can happen suddenly, so you may not be able to get off the highway. If you encounter problems while on the highway, slowly pull over onto the shoulder of the road to get out of traffic. Make sure that when you're on the side of the road you turn your hazard lights on so other drivers can see you.

Be Prepared With Important Information

Since an RV is a lot larger than a normal passenger vehicle, you will need specialized towing service. In order to match you with the right towing company that has the trucks and personnel required to tow an RV you will need to provide specific information. Before calling a local towing service, make sure you are ready to let the dispatcher know the size, size, weight, and class of your RV. Having the correct information will help ensure that the right tow truck is sent to your location as quickly as possible.

Stay Inside Your RV

If your RV breaks down on the highway, you fist instinct may be to exit the vehicle and wait for the tow truck on the shoulder of the road. However, this can be very dangerous-- for your safety it is always best to stay inside of your broken down RV while waiting for a tow truck to arrive. Remaining inside the RV will help protect your from passing traffic that is traveling at high speeds. When the tow truck arrives, the tow truck driver will secure the area surrounding your RV so you can exit the vehicle and the RV can be towed away.

Auto Body Blues: Tips For Doing The Work Yourself

My first venture into auto body repair was a comedy of errors. I thought I knew how it should be done, but it just didn't come out the way I thought it should. After that, I found every resource I could to learn how to do it the right way. It took a lot of research and time to find all of the information, and I knew that it didn't have to be that hard. Once I learned how to do it well, I wanted to find a way to put all of that information in one place and help other people learn how to fix minor auto body damage on their own. I hope that my skills and research help you to feel more empowered to work on your own car.
